Recap of The First Few Chapters
Ersia Fesentera was the empire’s crown princess and saint due to a prophecy stating that the next one would be a pink-haired girl.
As a result, she was taken from her family at a young age and sent to live in the imperial palace for 18 years.
But the prophecy changes a month before her wedding to the crown prince, naming a different pink-haired girl, Nevea Rurtella, as the crown princess.
In response to the change, the crown prince ends his engagement with Ersia with zero hesitation.
Nevea isn’t shy about wanting to kick Ersia out of the palace.
All the crown prince has to say to Ersia is that he was expecting her to cry over the sudden change.
And others within the palace who Ersia has known for her entire life have changed their attitudes toward her now that she’s no longer the crown princess.
So it’s pretty understandable that Ersia wants to get some revenge since she spent 18 years away from her family to work for the crown prince and the empire only to be told to leave without even an apology.
Her revenge starts in the form of rumors surrounding Nevea with the help of Ashe, a servant of her father, Duke Fesentera.
The rumors are somewhat convincing since they tie into the Rurtella’s history.
Nevea tries to counter this by speaking to the general public as the crown princess but Ersia just spreads even more rumors through the palace staff about Nevea embezzling money to use for her wardrobe instead of helping the people in her territory.
For now, the story seems like it will continue in the direction of these two staying at odds.
My Thoughts
Overall, I think this story is off to an interesting start and I’m rooting for Ersia to get her revenge.
She has a spine and is intelligent, which I do love in a female protagonist.
This is also not a second-chance or reincarnation story where she has knowledge of future events which is nice.
Though I do love those types of stories too, the kind where the protagonist is only relying on what she currently has and knows feels rarer these days.
Also, I’m hoping we get to see Ersia’s revenge develop past just rumors, especially after she leaves the palace.
While she does have plenty of ammunition with Nevea’s family history, that doesn’t seem like a satisfying way to get at the crown prince.
The crown prince has no name, by the way.
He’s only been referred to by his title or position so far.
I guess this might be the author’s way of saying that he’s not the ML.
Another thing that sticks out to me is why Nevea is appearing just now instead of when she was born.
Everyone in the empire knows about the prophecy so a second pink-haired girl appearing should have been noticed well before the story started.
I think it’s pretty likely that her pink hair isn’t natural and the temple, who announces the prophecies, isn’t being honest with everyone.
