Dungeon Manhwa with Female MC Recommendation: The Housekeeper of the Dungeon

I recommend this if you want a slice-of-life dungeon manhwa with a (conditionally) strong FL and himbo ML

Plot Summary

Huina was an office worker doing overtime when she awakened as a hunter.

Instead of a standard class like a mage or fighter however, she awakened as a housekeeper.

And as a result of gaining new cooking, cleaning, and caretaking skills Hunters especially benefit from, she secures a new job at a major hunter guild.

Which is supposed to be safe but Huina sometimes gets pulled into danger only for her housekeeping skills to save her in the end.

My thoughts (Contains Minor Spoilers)

TL;DR It’s a cozy slice-of-life manhwa with good world-building, supportive characters, and my fantasy of job security.

Setting

The setting is pretty standard for dungeon/gate manhwa but the world-building is still well done.

It’s set in the modern day, ten years after the first dungeon burst.

Dungeons are reset instead of destroyed after killing the boss so teams of awakened need to be sent in routinely.

If they don’t do it in time, it will cause another dungeon burst.

The majority of awakened are combat types but there are others aside from Huina with more supportive classes.

No matter the class though, they can increase their skills and class levels through effort.

System

Huina’s first skill, Home Sweet Home, allows her to create a house she can access from anywhere.

Home Sweet Home even has utilities included!

Though there is a cost to keep the space running.

And events may occur depending on Huina’s luck stat.

But even with those, her class makes me so jealous.

Especially since she can upgrade Home Sweet Home to be bigger and more convenient.

One thing I think will be important is how Home Sweet Home is connected to all dungeons as a safe zone.

This means she can’t access it normally while in a dungeon but she (and probably allies) can travel to its fixed location.

Based on the developments towards the end of season 1, it’s safe to assume that Home Sweet Home will become a lifeline for hunters.

Aside from that, Huina has skills for ordinary tasks like cleaning that are effective on materials from dungeons and monsters.

This stands out because said materials are extremely difficult or sometimes impossible to clean up.

Plus she has cooking and caretaking skills that solve certain problems hunters suffer from due to their heightened senses.

All of which means she has job security for the foreseeable future and I love how the manhwa focuses on this aspect.

Instead of an OP MC who side characters rely on for fights, we get one who isn’t OP that side characters fight over like toddlers.

That said, Huina isn’t limited to supporting.

While she technically isn’t a combatant, she has items and skills that are surprisingly effective when the story veers into action.

Characters

Outside of dungeons, we haven’t met any antagonists.

Everyone from Huina to the side characters has shown only good intentions, giving the story a positive vibe.

Huina is pragmatic, serious about making a living and preferring safety and stability over everything else.

Which I can understand since even in a world with dungeons and magic, making sure my needs are met would be my first priority too.

However, the plot does pull her into situations where she’s in danger.

Like ones where she meets Woo Mina and Kang Jinhyeon.

Mina is one of the first hunters we meet and I love her personality and character design so much.

She’s outgoing and supportive of Huina, helping her where she can while also being desperate for Huina’s food.

And while her class isn’t specified, we can tell she’s a fighter based on her build.

Jinhyeon is both an S-rank hunter and our himbo ML.

While he’s very competent at fighting, he’s well-known for breaking stuff and making messes because he can’t control his strength when it comes to simple tasks.

Jinhyeon is also pretty dumb/naive when trying to impress or persuade Huina which, combined with his politeness, makes him more lovable.

In terms of romance, season 1 has been a slow burn with more time spent on getting to know each other.

Though I’m guessing the romance will develop whenever season 2 begins.

All in all, I really enjoy stories like this where the protagonist has a mundane job/class in a fantasy setting and we explore how that works.

If you’ve read this far and like what I’ve said, you should go ahead and read The Housekeeper of the Dungeon.
